I was playing around with photo props and my old dog wandered into the room. Even though I wasn't finished setting up, I tried to sit him down and grab a few pics. With the look on his face, you can tell he just did NOT want to participate. He sat there because I asked him to, but he sure was NOT going to smile for the camera! That was a couple of years ago and my beloved Price has since passed. I miss that dog terribly! But I'm glad I got the photo.
In photography, sometimes the moments I capture are not "picture perfect." The child who thrashes and screams with a tear-stained face. The dog who actually expresses unhappiness at being photographed. The husband who grimaces in his family holiday portrait with his wife and kids. A photo disaster? No. These are truly a reflection of life. These are the "I remember when" moments, when a less than perfect photo actually becomes one of the more cherished memories.
